Notions to Beware of: Time, Space and Unification

There is a story in the News of Today called the "Balloon Boy" story.   An "amateur scientist" (whatever that is) built a weather balloon that looked like a flying saucer and sent it up into the air and then notified authorities that his youngest son had snuck aboard the balloon and everyone ended up chasing the balloon across the country to save the little boy.   It turned out to be a hoax, but one article about the incident just happened to mention that the boys mother believed the world was going to end in 2012 and that they needed to make a lot of money real quick, in order to build a bunker to survive when the sun exploded.    When I read this, it ocurred to me that the prevailing notions of our day are having a tremendous impact on individuals of all walks of life.   Unfortunately, the notions are nothing more than lazy couch potato thinking, requiring nothing more than an imagination.   That is what Darwin used when he developed the theory of evolution.

What are the characteristics of LAZY COUCH POTATO THINKING ? ......      Well, the first characteristic is that it has to be impossible to verify your theory.   The best way to do this is to use gobbs and gobbs of something.   There has to be so much of it that no one can gather it all up to determine if what you say is actually true.   Darwin did this with evolution.   The theory requires gobbs and gobbs of TIME.   If you are having trouble verifying the theory of evolution, it is because the theory requires eons of time to pass.   If you find evidence that the theory is un-true, then they just add another gobb of time to the theory.   In reality, the "theory" of evolution is nothing more than a notion based on someone noticing similarities between the physical characteristics of species.   Gee, could it be that all species were designed and created by the same GOD and that you would expect similarities because of this fact.   No ........ it is just a long, long, long series of accidents, and not the design of a superior, intelligent GOD.

Another notion involves space.   It is the UNIVERSE.  Within this universe are "forces" and "energies" that dictate our existence and guide our development as a human race.   If you are not sure that these forces actually exist, or you can't verify them, just add more space.   Actually, the universe that God created seems to be as big as we can imagine it. This was supposed to GLORIFY GOD, and not be a breeding ground for vague, obscure notions about the development of man.   Oh, and if the universe is not big enough to accomodate whatever awesome, enlightening and/or mysterious idea you are SELLING, just add another dimension.   In fact, add multiple dimensions to the universe. Oh, why not make it infinite!   We now live in an infinitely dimensional universe that will accomodate any behaviour you desire.

Lastly, and most dangerously, is the concept of Unification.   Unifying theories that encompass all phenomena and philosophies and prophecies are by far the most dangerous.   They negate the GLORY OF GOD and they negate the WORD OF GOD.  The idea that the Bible and Jesus Christ are in any way comparible to hopi indian phrophecies, or mayan manuscripts, or past mexican emperors, or nostradamas, or mistics is absolutely dangerous and absurd.   Beware of the unification of all ideas and philosophies and "prophecies" and predictions and the lumping together of all these notions with the Bible and Jesus Christ.  IT ONLY SERVES TO MARGINALIZE AND MINIMIZE GOD AND THE WORD OF GOD.  No Sir!!! Not True!!! Jesus Christ is the living Son of God.   The Bible is the living Word of God.    Nothing else, and No One else is needed.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.   John 1:1-5.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2Thessalonias 2:11-12.
